For this neighborhood, the goal was to restore the relationship we have with food and nature. Since industrialization, people have lost their connection to the food they are eating, becoming less aware of what they eat and where it comes from.

To restore this relationship, the design organizes strong communities that adhere to the feeling of "midding"—the tranquil pleasure of being near a gathering but not quite in it, feeling blissfully invisible yet fully included, safe in the knowledge that everyone is together and okay.

Design Approach

  • New Urbanism Principles
  • Diversity of Housing Types
  • Pedestrian-Oriented
  • Public & Open Space

For the medium density core to be a thriving community, the design applies principles of New Urbanism on a small scale: diversity of housing types, a concentrated core of retail and employment, a pedestrian-oriented environment, and dedicated public and open space.

While the concept is designed from the public space perspective, it respects private space by creating clear distinctions through intermediate spaces. The polyvalent use of enclosed spaces allows for flexibility and community interaction.
